Meet James Johansen (He/Him)
James Johansen is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and an AASECT-Certified Sex Therapist (CST). He is currently a doctoral student in Human Sexuality at Widener University.
In 2020, James founded Modern Sex, an organization dedicated to being a resource for LGBTQ+ people. James operates as a psychotherapist with a unique LGBTQ+ trauma-informed approach, shaped by decades of social advocacy. James has worked with a number of evidence-based modalities and is intimately acquainted with issues that impact LGBTQ+ mental and sexual health.
In addition to serving the LGBTQ+ community, James also seeks to be a resource for people in diverse relationships, e.g., polyamorous, non-monogamous, relationship anarchy and other valid forms of connection. James is also a member of the Secular Therapy Project and has a long history of working with people who are recovering from religious violence and the repercussions it has on how we perceive and express ourselves.
